Two weeks have passed since the official ski season ended… it began with record breaking snowfall in December and January, followed by the driest February in over 30 years, then saved by a late March storm that dumped 22″ inches in 48 hours.
It’s officially Spring now – a notoriously fickle time of year… the perception of summer one day, the look of winter the next:
Our spring to summer transition will likely continue till June (?), offering hiking and biking one day and perhaps powder turns the next. Capturing the glory of our region, no matter the season, local filmmaker, Brett Schreckengost, recently received a 1st place Jury award from the Colorado Office of Film and Television Media for this short film below. Most of you will recognize the narrator. Enjoy! And hope to see many of you here throughout the summer and into the fall… our next transition.
“The short was filmed entirely in Southwest Colorado, the most beautiful part of the state in my opinion. The beauty of Colorado really is in the people who live here, the community is what has kept me here and why I chose to raise my family here and call these mountains home. The cowboy/ski bum featured in the video is Roudy Roudebush (yes, that is his real name) and his narrative voice was not scripted.” –Filmmaker Brett Schreckengost and “Colorful Colorado“
